Getting older isn't for wimps. ~~ Cara

So true. I had a steroid injection into my knee (my good knee ) that has developed a degenerative form of arthritis  Now the bad knee...has Osgood schlatters disease and unfortunately it is also arthritic.
The steroid shot was on Wednesday. Sunday morning I get up and my vision is blurry...with my glasses on.  So I figure maybe my blood pressure is up. So....that evening we went to clean the office and my vision was really blurry...the big green signs on the interstate...were blurry even up close. So Monday my eye doc saw me first thing and he suggested that I get tested for Diabetes. Why Me...???

Windswept Farm and Fiber Mill at the Pork, Pine, and Peanut Festival!

Kerry spinning on her Fidelis wheel.
Kerry and I began our trek to the festival around 9 A.M. We got there around 10:40 and parked. We stopped for gas, caffeine and Horse Drugs at a Vet along the way. We also got turned around twice because the signs appeared "right at the turns". Anyway we were parked a mile away from Eric and Jana's booth and had to carry our wheels and fiber goodies there. We sat across the way under the shade of the beautiful blooming crepe myrtles. Yes, (to my family) I was smothered in bug spray :P and I had my allergy meds on board. We were between a lady selling jewelry and another selling hand made purses. We enjoyed a chat with a gentleman who was an Airforce Vet, that was waiting for his wife.  (next year I am going to take a recorder with me so I have names, pictures etc. and more details....a real "report". We set up our wheels and got to "spinning". Kerry's Fidelis drew tons of attention. Mostly from children and men. The men were tickled pink. The children wanted to break their fingers on the flyer. The mothers were simply relieved to be able to shop unencumbered.

I think this is Jana's neighbor?

Needless to say the lady with the jewelry was a whiner and complained about us "blocking her through traffic". So Eric and Jana made room for us in the tent. Our traffic moved with us. Karma is a bitch. After we left her booths' traffic damn near disappeared. The husband of the lady selling the purses offered to set us up on the other side of his tent because they appreciated the added attraction that was giving potential customers more time in their area to peruse the merchandise and "spontaneously" purchase something that they might not have seen otherwise. Our Airforce Veteran who we were were talking to while his wife shopped, stopped by again as well and was curious as to why we moved from under a good shady spot to inside the booth which was at the time in the direct sunlight. We explained and he looked over  and laughed at her lack of business and said well the Good Lord don't like ugly and you reap what you sow.

Jana talking to a potential customer!

So Beatrice and Viviano came. He got more spindle spinning lessons and Beatrice wowed us with her knitting and enthusiasm. Viviano and Bea purchased some rocking hats....which I have since found at the Wal-Greens.....Kerry and I walked around and got lunch from the Big Yellow Bus. Awesome food and healthy too! Thank you Beatrice for the icecream....it was delicious. I would also like to thank the lady who gave us directions that was selling sweet corn. We stopped on our way out and her husband was manning the cart and purchased sweet corn from him. Yummy!! Thank you for the ride Kerry. Thank you Jana and Eric for inviting us. We had an awesome time and next year I want to take my entire family.

Yvonne Frederick is accepting commissions.

This is one of Yvonne's watercolors that a family friend commissioned. She doesn't do pets. Prefers people....

Finished hats

I finished T's hat. My Jamaican neighbor. I patterned it after a hat I saw Bob Marley wearing in a picture. I hope he likes it when I give it to him this weekend.

I finished the sample hats that I made for Windswept Farms. I still have enough yarn on the cone to probably make one or two more if I use a different solid color as part of the hat. I love that fiber. It isn't splitty and knits up fast. Will post pics later.

Projects I'm working on:

Handspun Yarn

I gave this to Beatrice on world wide knit in public day. It was the first skein that I'd plied that day and I was thinking ...hrm I don't know if Beatrice has ever had any of my homespun...so there you go. She's washed it and hung it to dry and now she is looking for a fitting project for it.

Disappointment

So many people have been praying for my daughter and asking about her and she simply will not follow her doctor's medical advice and take her meds or listen to us. I'm tired. Tired of being afraid for her, tired of her rebellion, tired of people interfering in our lives encouraging her to not take her meds, encouraging her to disobey good advice from us, and encouraging her to "self" medicate. I don't know what else to do to help her. I've done all I can.

Car in Shop

I had to drop Moya off at Merchant's tire this morning. The left front tire was going down looks like the rim is cutting into it where Dale ate a curb a few weeks ago. So....the wonderful year I've had so far is continuing.

Life's Lessons

Even though we are all acquaintances and friends; we also  have our seperate lives, expectations, and responsibilities.  People give of their time and energy as they can. Some are able to go above and beyond what most of us are willing to invest.

Kyrie's sweater

Body is crocheted. Arms are knitted. Kyrie is my neighbor across the street. He is always demanding that Ms. Nita makes him hats, sweaters, etc. So here it is. Kyrie's sweater made from 100% wool. I'll post the brand when I get home and can get to a label. This is my first attempt at a sweater. No pattern was used. I made the sleeves short so that he can wear it longer as he grows with a turtleneck under it.

Telemarketers

1. If  I wanted your services I would call you.
2. I am the person making the decisions in regards to those services and my decisions is to hang up on your stupid arse for calling me.
3. No you may not speak to my supervisor or my boss....he's going to hang up on your dumb ass too.
4. Stop calling me interrupting my work flow.
5. Just because I hung up on "Peggy" doesn't mean I want to speak to "Sue".

I HATE TELEMARKETERS....THAT IS ALL.

Website Updates

Well my back is feeling better...probably the drugs so I'm trying not to have a set back like I had over the weekend. My two grown daughters were arguing at 3 in the morning over "clothes" and who's the bigger slut, hoebag, and other choice terms they were screaming. I was sound asleep. I jumped out of the bed forgetting I had a screwed up back and ran downstairs ready to beat someone to death with my baseball bat and no kids...then I realized they must be upstairs...so I by now in great pain, headed up stairs...all the way upstairs to the attic bedrooms where they live...and there I was until 4 in the morning trying to keep them from killing each other. Finally I decided if they kill each other then I have to get my will modified and headed downstairs...slipped and fell needless to say...I was crying like a baby. My Dr. said I bruised both knees, sprained my wrist, rolled my ankle that if the swelling doesn't go down or the pain gets worse he wants xrays because of the large bruise on the side of it and I re-injured my hip that was part of the original back injury tearing fibers and crap injury.

So. Hopefully the rain will hold off because I have minions to orchestrate to get my tilling done and rows done so I can start my garden. I will have veggies or bust...someone will get busted up....

Been updating the code on my bosses website while I work on the new W3C compliant template and all SEO'd optimized from the ground up. Then I need to update my own website for my web design stuff so I can get some new clients on the side. Add fiber and other stuff to shespins to sale....la la la does it ever end. Why can't I win the lottery so I can pay off all my debt, buy me a little farm for my Rambouillet, Wensleydale crosses I want to breed and run away from my kids :).

2011 had started out so well...

Then I hurt my back. Tore some "fibers" in it in two places my lumbar region above my coccyx and one of those connection points on my right hip. So It's a lot of drama but I will survive. Haven't any spinning because sitting hurts and once I start spinning I zone out which means I'm hurting my back more :( so my husband has been keeping me away from my fibers :(. The muscle relaxers make me sleepy so I sleep alot. At first I thought the lidocaine patches were worthless but I didn't have enough pain killers in my system to see the benefit of them. Now I know they work. Well this is about as long as I can sit right now. I've been doing my "gentle" stretches to loosen up the pelvic girdle muscles and upper back muscles and ham string stretches to try and get those suckers loosened up because I've been walking like an old "lady" so everything is tight.
